The Core Idea

Affective Socialization Theory (AST) proposes that our brains are not fixed. They are continuously shaped by our social environments through a process of recursive learning.

The Three Zones

Green Zone (Ventral Vagal)

Experience: Safe, connected, calm.

Yellow Zone (Sympathetic)

Experience: Anxious, vigilant, activated.

Red Zone (Dorsal)

Experience: Numb, collapsed, hopeless.

Agency Expectancy (AE)
